Vietnam’s garment and textile industry is making notable strides into the Canadian market, with export growth and heightened interest from buyers underlining the sector’s expanding global reach. Industry data show that exports to Canada climbed around 10 % in 2025 to exceed USD 1.3 billion, supported by trade diversification efforts and preferential tariff access under the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans‑Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
At a major international textile and apparel exhibition in Toronto, products from Vietnamese fabric manufacturers attracted strong attention from Canadian and broader North American buyers. Exhibits included signature denim and mid‑to‑high‑end yarn and fabrics, with buyers drawn to high‑quality materials produced through fully integrated manufacturing processes.
Canada’s apparel sector has expressed interest in establishing more direct partnerships with Vietnamese enterprises, with industry representatives indicating that targeted collaborations will help deepen market penetration and build long‑term trade relationships.
Exporters emphasise that sourcing CPTPP‑eligible raw materials, including cotton from member countries, allows Vietnamese textile firms to benefit from preferential tariffs — an advantage that enhances competitiveness despite stiff global competition. Several companies are already planning capacity expansions to meet rising demand and secure larger market shares in Canada.
Vietnamese trade officials also note that Canada is increasingly seen as a strategic diversification market amid shifting global trade patterns, and that investment links — including Canadian firms setting up production facilities in Vietnam — could further strengthen supply chain connectivity between the two economies.
