Vietnam is strengthening its position in Asia-Pacific semiconductor supply chains as demand for artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, and advanced computing technologies continues to grow.
The country’s semiconductor exports recorded a compound annual growth rate of 31.8% between 2006 and 2025, while imports grew by 30% annually. Vietnam exported US$32.4 billion worth of integrated circuits in 2023, highlighting its expanding role in global technology trade.
As semiconductor manufacturing networks become more interconnected, reliable transportation, shipment tracking, and efficient cross-border logistics are increasingly important. Components often pass through multiple countries for manufacturing, assembly, and testing before reaching their final destinations.
Vietnam’s established electronics manufacturing base, skilled workforce, and competitive costs are helping attract investment in semiconductor assembly and testing. However, geopolitical uncertainty, rising operating costs, and complex customs procedures continue to challenge international supply chains.
Industry findings highlight the growing importance of logistics performance, with 44% of survey respondents identifying faster international shipping as their top consideration when selecting logistics and supply chain partners.
Improved transport connections and stronger regional logistics networks could help Vietnam support rising semiconductor demand, improve delivery reliability, and strengthen its integration into global production networks.
As AI, electric vehicles, and digital infrastructure continue to expand, efficient logistics will remain essential to keeping semiconductor supply chains connected, competitive, and resilient.
