Pietermaritzburg & Midlands Chamber of Business (PMCB), one of South Africa’s oldest and most respected business organizations, has been nominated for the prestigious Go Global Awards 2025, scheduled for November 18–19, 2025, at One Great George Street, Westminster, London. This nomination recognizes the Chamber’s enduring impact in business advocacy, enterprise development, and regional economic growth.

Founded in 1885, PMCB has served as a cornerstone of business representation and collaboration in the KwaZulu-Natal region for over a century. As a non-profit, membership-based organization, PMCB’s mission is to promote sustainable local business growth, facilitate trade and market access, and strengthen the regional economy through policy advocacy, enterprise development, and skills training initiatives.

PMCB’s core focus areas include entrepreneurial development, skills training, trade facilitation, policy advocacy, and business networking. The Chamber provides mentorship, accredited courses, and export-readiness programs that connect South African enterprises to national and international markets, while fostering collaboration across industries.

Melanie Veness, Chief Executive Officer of PMCB, will represent the Chamber at the Go Global Awards 2025. Under her leadership, PMCB has strengthened its influence across local, national, and global platforms. Veness also serves as Chairperson of the Association of South African Chambers (ASAC) and is a member of the ICC World Chambers Federation’s General Council, reinforcing the Chamber’s growing international reach and advocacy role.

Through initiatives such as the Global Export Accelerator Programme, PMCB has empowered more than 100 black-owned enterprises to enter export markets—creating 638 new jobs and expanding South Africa’s participation in global trade. The Chamber also hosts the KZN Lean Conference, South Africa’s only private-sector lean manufacturing event, promoting operational excellence and productivity across industries.

In 2024, PMCB was named Best Business Enterprise by Acquisition International, recognizing its leadership in advancing inclusive economic development and sustainable enterprise growth across South Africa.
