Scan Global Logistics (SGL) has announced that it will acquire ITN Logistics Group, a private freight forwarding company based in Toronto, Canada. This acquisition aims to strengthen SGL’s operations and services in Canada by adding more locations and increasing their presence in the market. ITN Logistics offers a variety of global logistics services, including air and ocean shipping, customs help, land transportation, and storage.
This acquisition enhances SGL’s ability to compete in the $20.9 billion Canadian freight forwarding industry, which is mostly led by international companies. The expansion will also help them improve trade solutions for clients in North America and around the world, especially given the strong trade activity between Canada and the U.S.
Allan Melgaard, SGL’s Global CEO, highlighted how well SGL and ITN fit together, noting their shared commitment to customer service and innovation. Steen Christensen, Regional CEO for North America, mentioned that this move will help SGL grow quickly in the region and allow them to provide ITN’s wide range of services to their customers.
The acquisition still needs approval from Canadian regulatory agencies and is expected to be finalized in the first quarter of 2025. This deal is part of SGL’s broader strategy, following strong performance in 2023 and plans for further growth in Africa, including opening a second office in Nigeria.
