The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) has unveiled plans for a 1.2 million square meter aviation industry cluster at MODON Oasis in Jeddah. The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance aerospace manufacturing capabilities and strengthen supply chains in the sector.
The project, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), aims to support the localization of aviation technologies. The announcement was made during the Aerospace Connect Forum, attended by key industry leaders, including GACA President Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, and MODON CEO Majed Al-Argoubi.
Strategically located near King Abdulaziz International Airport and Jeddah Islamic Port, the cluster is expected to attract investment in aerospace manufacturing. It will feature ready-built factories of various sizes to accommodate companies in the aviation sector, with a focus on increasing local production and industrial capabilities.
The initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s National Industrial Strategy, Aviation Strategy, and Tourism Strategy, which collectively seek to establish the Kingdom as a global aviation hub. Saudi Arabia has set targets to handle 30 million passengers and 2 million tonnes of air cargo annually.
MODON is participating as a “Gold Partner” in the Aerospace Connect Forum, which runs in Jeddah until February 25, bringing together local and international aviation experts to foster industry collaboration.
In addition to the aviation cluster, MODON recently launched a food industry cluster in Jeddah, covering more than 11 million square meters across the city’s second and third industrial zones. According to the Saudi Press Agency, this development is considered the world’s largest food industry cluster by area, supporting the country’s Vision 2030 goals to enhance food security and industrial expansion.
The establishment of the aviation industry cluster is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to enhance industrial competitiveness, encourage investment, and develop advanced manufacturing capabilities within the aviation sector.
