FedEx Launches New LCL Priority Service for Asia Pacific to Middle East Trade

FedEx Logistics and FedEx Express, subsidiaries of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), have announced the launch of their new FedEx Less-than-Container Load (LCL) Priority service. This service provides a customs-cleared port-to-door and door-to-door logistics solution, which integrates ocean and road networks to offer a strategic balance of speed and cost-efficiency. It aims to connect businesses in the Asia Pacific with key markets in the Middle East.

The initiative comes in anticipation of the growing trade relationships between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and Asia, which is projected to reach US$578 billion by 2030. The LCL Priority service is designed to support the burgeoning economic ties and meet the dynamic needs of the Asia Pacific–Middle East trade corridor.

Edward Hui, Vice President of Asia, Middle East, and Africa at FedEx Logistics, emphasized the importance of ocean trade and described the new service as a crucial link that anticipates and exceeds the logistical needs of the regions’ trade dynamics. “The FedEx LCL Priority service isn’t just a logistics solution; it’s an approach redefining trade between Asia Pacific and the Middle East,” said Hui.

Taarek Hinedi, Vice President of Middle East and Africa Operations at FedEx Express, highlighted the role of the FedEx Middle East Road Network (MERN) in this service. “This ocean-road solution leveraging the wider FedEx network is designed to optimize delivery in terms of cost, time, and convenience,” Hinedi noted, adding that the service aims to provide seamless redistribution to key Middle East markets for Asia Pacific businesses.

The LCL Priority service is tailored to be faster than traditional ocean freight by approximately 8 to 10 days and more cost-effective than air freight, enhancing both speed and efficiency for businesses. It includes features such as end-to-end track and trace visibility, which offers businesses enhanced efficiency and transparency of their shipments.

With this new service, FedEx provides a single point of contact for businesses, simplifying shipping operations and reducing the complexities associated with dealing with multiple freight forwarders. This strategic initiative by FedEx is poised to elevate shipping strategies for businesses within these vital global trade regions, aligning with the evolving global trade landscape.
