On February 26, 2025, Qatar’s Transport Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani, met with Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, in Doha. They talked about ways to strengthen their cooperation in transportation, mobility services, and related infrastructure.
After the meeting, the ministers visited important transportation sites in Qatar. They checked out the Doha Metro project, where experts from Qatar Rail explained how the stations work, the technology involved, and how the entire network operates. The group also toured Hamad Port and its Visitor Center, receiving updates from Mwani Qatar professionals about the port’s facilities and future expansion plans that will benefit the national economy.
This visit shows the dedication of both countries to improving their transportation and infrastructure cooperation. It follows a series of meetings between officials from Qatar and Bahrain aimed at working together in these areas. For example, in September 2024, then-Qatari Transport Minister Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti met with Bahrain’s Ambassador in Qatar, Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghatam, to discuss Bahrain’s upcoming International Airshow in November 2024.
Moreover, in December 2023, Minister Al Sulaiti met with Bahrain’s Transportation Minister, Mohamed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, during a meeting of the International Maritime Organization in London. They focused on ways to enhance cooperation in transport and logistics.
These ongoing discussions reflect the mutual dedication of Qatar and Bahrain to developing their transportation sectors through collaboration and sharing of knowledge.
