The China-Europe Railway Express is strengthening trade connectivity across Eurasia, providing businesses with an established land-based transport option linking production centres, markets and logistics hubs across Asia and Europe.
Over the past decade, the railway network has completed more than 130,000 trips, connecting China with 236 cities across 26 European countries and transporting more than 50,000 types of products.
The two-way movement of goods supports diverse trade flows. Chinese home appliances and new energy vehicles are transported to European markets, while precision equipment and agricultural products move in the opposite direction. Minerals and grain from Central Asia also contribute to the expanding network of regional trade.
The railway provides businesses with another transportation option alongside maritime and air freight, helping companies develop more flexible distribution strategies and connect inland production centres with international markets.
New routes involving the Caspian Sea, Türkiye and Russia are further expanding the network’s geographic reach and creating additional transport options for businesses operating across Eurasia.
The growth of rail connectivity is also supporting the development of inland trade gateways in China and logistics hubs across Europe. These locations are becoming increasingly important for cargo consolidation, distribution and international commerce.
With broad geographic coverage and regular rail services, the China-Europe Railway Express is contributing to more connected production and distribution networks while supporting trade and economic cooperation among countries along its routes.
The continued development of Eurasian rail infrastructure highlights the growing role of multimodal transportation in building efficient, flexible and resilient global supply chains.
