Perdue Foods, a leading meat and poultry processor based in Maryland, has announced the appointment of Gregg Uecker as the Chief Supply Chain and Operations Officer. This new role in the company will see Uecker overseeing various components of the Perdue Foods supply chain, including live production, plant operations, transportation, warehousing, order fulfillment, food safety, and procurement.
Kevin McAdams, CEO of Perdue Farms, the parent company of Perdue Foods, highlighted Uecker’s extensive experience in the industry. “Gregg brings a deep understanding of operations and supply chain management. His expertise will be pivotal in enhancing our supply chain efficiencies, fulfilling the evolving needs of our customers and consumers, and driving sustainable growth for Perdue Foods,” McAdams stated.
Uecker comes to Perdue Foods with a rich background in the field, having recently served as the Executive Vice President of Global Supply Chain at CJ Schwan’s. Before that, he accumulated a wealth of experience during a 30-year tenure at Tyson Foods, where he held multiple leadership roles.
The appointment comes at a time when poultry producers are focusing on optimizing their supply chains amidst challenging market conditions. Notably, Tyson Foods, a key player in the industry, closed six chicken plants this year and has undertaken significant supply chain restructuring to reduce costs.
Alongside Uecker’s appointment, Perdue Foods also announced the promotion of Julie Katigan to Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. Katigan, who joined Perdue in 2022, will be responsible for developing and executing people strategies, enhancing associate engagement and development, shaping company culture, and focusing on employee well-being.
