Libya is exploring opportunities to strengthen its maritime transport and logistics sector, with experts highlighting the country’s strategic Mediterranean location, long coastline, and existing port infrastructure as potential advantages for regional trade.
At the Libyan Experts Forum in Tripoli, maritime transport specialists emphasized the potential to develop Libya into a logistics link between Europe, North Africa, and wider African markets.
Realizing this opportunity would require a more integrated logistics approach, including modernized ports, stronger road and transport connections, logistics centers, free zones, digital services, and updated regulations.
Experts also called for a long-term national transport and logistics strategy that brings together government institutions, private businesses, and Libyan professionals at home and abroad.
With the right investment and coordinated planning, Libya could strengthen its maritime connectivity, improve trade efficiency, and diversify economic activity beyond traditional oil dependence.
