Nissan Motor India has commenced the export of over 10,000 units of the left-hand drive (LHD) variant of its compact SUV, the Magnite, as part of its ‘One Car, One World’ strategy. The initial shipment of approximately 2,900 units departed from Chennai’s Kamarajar Port in late January 2025, targeting markets in Latin America. Subsequent exports in February 2025 included over 7,100 units destined for regions such as the Middle East, North Africa, and select countries in the Asia Pacific.
Frank Torres, Divisional Vice President of AMIEO Region Business Transformation and President of Nissan India Operations, emphasized the significance of this milestone, stating that the Magnite has been pivotal in Nissan’s success both domestically and internationally. He expressed confidence that the India-manufactured vehicle would further drive the company’s export growth.
The Magnite, produced at Nissan’s Alliance joint venture plant in Chennai, is now available in over 65 global markets, encompassing both right-hand drive (RHD) and LHD configurations. This expansion underscores India’s role as a crucial manufacturing and export hub for Nissan.
In the Asia Pacific region, the Philippines is among the anticipated markets for the Magnite’s introduction. Nissan Philippines showcased the Magnite at the Philippine International Motor Show in 2024, signaling potential plans for its local launch. While an official release date has yet to be announced, the recent export activities suggest that the Magnite may soon be available to Filipino consumers.
Globally, the Magnite is equipped with features designed to appeal to a wide range of customers. These include a nine-inch infotainment touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic air conditioning, a push-to-start button, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, built-in WiFi tethering, and leather upholstery. Safety features comprise electronic stability control, six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, traction control, stability control, hydraulic brake assist, and a 360-degree view camera. The vehicle is powered by a 1.0-liter turbocharged inline-three gasoline engine, delivering 98 horsepower and 152 Newton-meters of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive.
The Magnite’s global expansion reflects Nissan’s commitment to delivering innovative and high-quality vehicles tailored to diverse markets. As the company continues to strengthen its presence worldwide, the potential introduction of the Magnite in the Philippines is eagerly awaited by local automotive enthusiasts.
