A major new parcel delivery centre has officially begun operations in Western Australia, designed to strengthen regional last‑mile logistics and support increasing e‑commerce demand, particularly during the busy festive period.
The newly commissioned facility, located in Jandakot, Perth, covers approximately 16,000 m² and is expected to handle up to 48,000 parcels per day, with capacity ramping up to around 67,000 parcels daily during peak season such as the run‑up to Christmas.
By consolidating five southern metropolitan parcel hubs into a single streamlined operation, the centre aims to improve delivery efficiency and reliability. The expanded capability also includes space for more than 210 delivery vans, serving a broad catchment that stretches from Fremantle and Perth Airport to Mandurah and Byford.
Industry analysts note that the move reflects broader logistics trends, where parcel volumes continue to grow due to ongoing expansion in online shopping. Regional e‑commerce activity in Western Australia has been particularly strong, with hundreds of thousands of households participating in online purchasing in recent quarters.
Logistics planners say the new facility will enhance service levels and speed, enabling faster sorting and dispatch of parcels, reducing transit times, and easing pressure on delivery networks during surge periods. By consolidating operations, the hub also supports more efficient resource utilisation and better coordination across shipment flows.
