A state‑of‑the‑art container vessel — named DP World Jebel Ali — has completed its maiden call at Jebel Ali Port, marking a key milestone in fleet modernisation and enhanced maritime logistics performance at one of the Middle East’s busiest trade gateways. The vessel’s arrival underscores the port’s role as a critical hub in regional and global supply chains.
The DP World Jebel Ali is part of the operator’s ongoing efforts to modernise its marine services fleet with advanced maritime technologies that improve cargo handling efficiency and operational flexibility. The compact gearless vessel is designed for better manoeuvrability and access to smaller and specialised terminals, helping extend service reach beyond major hubs.
Officials highlighted that the new vessel will be deployed on major liner services such as the Asian Gulf ISC Service (AGI), strengthening connectivity between Asia, the Gulf region and broader international trade routes. The vessel’s operational design also supports environmental goals, with estimated fuel savings of around 1,700 metric tonnes of bunker fuel annually, translating into 15 – 20 % lower carbon emissions on its routes — a significant advantage in sustainable port logistics.
A special reception was held at Jebel Ali Port to commemorate the maiden call, attended by senior marine services leadership. The event underlined the port’s strategic importance as a linchpin of freight networks and its growing capabilities in handling diverse cargo flows for global shippers and logistics partners.
