New “AI Agent Workforce” Rolls Out to Transform Supply Chain Operations

in Artificial Intelligence in Trade

A new generation of AI agents — purpose‑built software designed to act autonomously within logistics workflows — has been commercially launched, promising to significantly change how supply chain tasks are executed. These intelligent agents are embedded within a modern supply chain platform to enable real‑time action with full operational context, rather than acting as simple add‑on tools.

The agents aim to support and automate a wide range of logistics and commerce functions. Interactive agents assist employees by simplifying tasks, guiding decisions and boosting day‑to‑day productivity, while autonomous agents operate continuously in the background to monitor operations, automate repetitive work and identify or resolve issues without direct human input. Examples include agents that oversee workforce deployment, shipment tracking and operational exception handling — helping reduce manual effort and improve service levels.

A new agent development platform is also part of the launch, allowing customers to build or customise AI agents using natural language and APIs to fit specific business needs. Agents created on this platform are designed to be interoperable and compatible with emerging agent communication standards, enabling integration across multiple logistics solutions and use cases.

Early adopters in warehouse management report gains in operational efficiency and improved resource allocation by using AI agents for tasks such as coordinating fulfilment activities and monitoring workflow zones. These developments reflect a broader logistics industry shift toward AI‑assisted automation — moving beyond simple analytics or chatbots to systems that can act, adjust and optimise processes in near real time.
