Vestas Announces Formation of Unified Technology and Operations Organization to Enhance Wind Energy Solutions

in Industry, Manufacturing

Vestas has announced a significant organizational change aimed at better aligning with the needs of its customers and the broader value chain. The company is merging its Technology organization (CTO) with its Manufacturing & Global Procurement organization (COO) to form a single entity: the Technology and Operations organization (CTOO). This restructuring is designed to create a cohesive enterprise-wide industrial system and will be led by the current Chief Technology Officer, Anders Nielsen.

The new CTOO organization represents a strategic step forward in Vestas’ ongoing evolution, focusing on the integration of technology and manufacturing processes. By unifying these areas, Vestas aims to simplify internal and external interfaces, enhancing efficiency and collaboration throughout the value chain. This move is expected to facilitate a smoother introduction of new technologies and products, as well as support a more robust manufacturing ramp-up.

The transition to the CTOO structure will utilize elements from Vestas’ existing global and regional operating models to minimize operational disruption and ensure the continuity of deliveries and project execution in 2024. The full implementation of the CTOO organization is anticipated by the third quarter of 2024.

In conjunction with this reorganization, Vestas has announced that Tommy Rahbek Nielsen, the current Chief Operating Officer, will be stepping down at the end of June 2024 after more than 25 years with the company. Anders Nielsen will take on the new role of CTOO, continuing to drive Vestas’ industrialization efforts.

Henrik Andersen, Group President & CEO of Vestas, expressed confidence in the new organizational structure. He highlighted that the unified CTOO organization would accelerate industrialization and enhance collaboration within Vestas and the broader industry. Andersen also acknowledged Tommy Rahbek Nielsen’s significant contributions, particularly during the pandemic, and thanked him for his dedication and service.

The creation of the CTOO organization will primarily affect senior management roles and is not expected to involve any operational-level restructuring.
