MSD Animal Health has introduced LeeO, a new system that enables producers to capture and monitor important events in the lifecycle of individual pigs through electronic identification (EID) tags. The system integrates seamlessly into existing workflow systems. The cloud-based system works with EID ear tags, readers, scales, and a mobile device to capture key lifecycle events of individual pigs. This allows producers to connect and evaluate all stages of the production cycle, from farrow to finish. Data capture begins with the application of EID ear tags and provides insights into factors that influence performance at individual, group, and herd levels.
LeeO records artificial insemination events, pregnancy checks, birth weights, parentage, vaccinations, and treatments. It also tracks movement and transport data, allowing producers to see the location history of individual pigs and ensure compliance with transport regulations. Additionally, the system captures data at slaughter to support traceability and production improvements, providing transparency throughout the supply chain. By offering individual pig-level data insights through a secure cloud-based portal, LeeO helps producers improve herd performance and financial productivity.
