MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) has announced an upgrade to its cargo protection services with the launch of “Cargo Cover Solutions,” replacing the previous “Peace of Mind” insurance offering. This new suite of services includes two products: MSC Extended Protection (EPR) and MSC Marine Cargo Insurance (MCI).
“Cargo Cover Solutions” aims to address the diverse needs of international transportation, offering MSC Extended Protection as a globally recognized option. MSC EPR is available widely, except in certain situations such as when a letter of credit is required, or for shipments of fresh goods or chilled food, in which cases MSC Marine Cargo Insurance is recommended. Notably, EPR also covers war risk events at sea without additional charges.
The updated offerings provide customers with competitive coverage options and efficient claim resolution processes. MSC prides itself on managing the entire customer interaction in-house, from booking to claim resolution, ensuring that customers receive timely quotations and coverage confirmations at the booking stage.
Claims under the Cargo Cover Solutions are processed directly by MSC, which promises local support and simplified procedures with resolutions aimed within 30 working days. Pricing is transparent, based on cargo value, and detailed directly on the freight invoice, allowing customers flexibility in choosing the extent of their cargo value protection.
MSC’s latest initiative reflects its commitment to supporting businesses in managing risks and capitalizing on opportunities within today’s complex global trade environment, aiming to facilitate their growth and success.
