Users can get real-time updates on trains, buses, and other public transport options, and they can also make reservations and payments directly through the app. Additionally, the platform shares information about local sights and events, making travel more enjoyable.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has worked alongside Korail to create and promote this service. Their goal is to make public transportation easier and more appealing for both locals and tourists. Besides catering to local users, Korail MaaS has gained a lot of traction among international visitors. In 2024, over 5 million foreign travelers used South Korea’s rail services, which is about one-third of all foreign tourists in the country. This marks a 61% increase compared to the previous year, which Korail credits to better ticketing options and the introduction of a rail pass that includes telecommunication services and unlimited rides in the wider Seoul area.
