U.S. Manufacturing Weakens Amid Rising Input Costs, Raising Stagflation Concerns

CEVA Logistics, a global logistics company, is expanding its fleet with 23 new electric trucks in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. This initiative is part of the company’s effort to lessen its environmental impact and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Growing the Electric Flee

The new fleet includes 21 medium-sized trucks, weighing between 7.5 and 19 tons, and two larger trucks. These vehicles will be used for collecting and delivering goods from eight CEVA sites across the three countries. With these additions, CEVA now has a total of 541 electric trucks and vans, contributing to a total low-carbon fleet of over 1,100 vehicles. The company estimates that these new electric trucks will help cut carbon dioxide (COâ‚‚) emissions by around 984 tons each year, bringing the total annual reduction from its fleet to more than 38,300 tons.

Investing in Charging Stations

To support the new electric trucks, CEVA has installed 85 new charging stations at locations in France, the Netherlands, and Belgium. This brings CEVA’s total charging points to over 300 in France and 1,035 worldwide, making it easier to operate its growing fleet of electric vehicles.

Focus on Sustainability

Adding these electric vehicles is an important step in CEVA’s plan to reduce the carbon footprint of its transport services. This aligns with the company’s goal of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050, with a focus on using alternative fuels and electric technology.

Cédric Chacon, CEVA’s Europe Ground & Rail Product Leader, mentioned that adding 23 electric trucks will help the company become more sustainable in logistics. He emphasized this investment as a core part of their commitment to “Acting for the Planet” and their dedication to providing eco-friendly transport options for customers.

Financial Support and Future Plans

CEVA received financial support from the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME) as part of a project to promote electric heavy vehicles. The rollout of these trucks began in late 2024 and will continue into the first half of 2025.

This is just one part of CEVA’s larger plan to grow its electric vehicle fleet. By the end of 2025, the company aims to have 1,450 electric vehicles, including 1,000 delivery vans, 300 medium trucks, and 150 larger trucks. This expansion is expected to cut annual COâ‚‚ emissions by about 67,000 tons, further highlighting CEVA’s commitment to sustainable logistics.

By incorporating these electric trucks and enhancing its charging network, CEVA Logistics is making significant strides toward its sustainability goals, helping to reduce carbon emissions in the logistics industry.
