Kale Logistics Solutions, in collaboration with CKTS Company Limited, has rolled out an automated customs clearance system at Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan. This new system uses Kale’s GALAXY cargo management tool to simplify processes that used to rely on manual data entry, which should help cut down on delays and repetitive tasks.
The first part of the rollout has automated the process for starting shipments and accepting documents. To make sure everything transitions smoothly and to avoid disruptions in cargo operations, the implementation is happening in stages. This approach allows for easy digital integration with current systems and procedures.
In the next phase, the rollout will add handheld devices to support important warehouse tasks. These devices will help record and report shipment arrivals to customs in real-time, further improving the customs clearance process at the airport.
Kansai International Airport is a key hub for major airlines in Japan, with CKTS handling about 140,000 tons of air cargo each year. The introduction of the GALAXY system is expected to greatly enhance the efficiency of cargo operations at the airport.
Vineet Malhotra, Co-founder and Director of Kale Logistics Solutions, mentioned that the GALAXY system has already been beneficial for many partners and is now making its mark in the Far East, revolutionizing ground handling processes in Japan. He highlighted that tailoring proprietary messages is a big achievement for Kale as a digital trade facilitator and expressed excitement about further digitizing CKTS operations in future phases.
The GALAXY cargo management system is a cloud-based software solution designed to automate airport operations, providing real-time visibility and planning efficiency. It has been implemented in over 100 airports around the world, offering all-encompassing features for handling imports, exports, transshipments, and domestic operations.
This development is in line with the global move towards digitalization in air cargo, aiming to boost efficiency, reduce the need for manual tasks, and improve overall service quality in the logistics industry.
