Uganda Investment Authority (UIA), Uganda’s premier government agency for investment promotion and facilitation, has been nominated for the prestigious Go Global Awards 2025, hosted by the International Trade Council. The ceremony will take place on November 18–19, 2025, at One Great George Street, Westminster, London, celebrating organizations that drive international trade, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.

Established in 1991, the Uganda Investment Authority is a semi-autonomous government agency mandated to coordinate, promote, facilitate, and retain value-adding foreign and domestic investments in Uganda. As part of its mission to make Uganda a globally competitive and profitable destination for business, UIA offers comprehensive investment promotion, business advisory, and aftercare services through its integrated One Stop Centre (OSC).

Through its facilitation role, the UIA has significantly reduced the time and cost of doing business in Uganda. The issuance of investment licenses—previously taking 48 hours—can now be completed within 24 hours, thanks to the OSC, which brings together 15 government agencies under one roof to provide seamless services in business registration, taxation, immigration, utilities, and land access.

Under the leadership of Robert Mukiza, Director General, and Rita Nabateregga, Deputy Director of Investment Promotion, UIA continues to champion Uganda’s transformation into a leading investment destination. Rita Nabateregga will represent the Uganda Investment Authority at the Go Global Awards 2025 in London, highlighting the country’s achievements in attracting and facilitating high-value investments across priority sectors.

UIA’s impact is evident across the national economy. The Authority has successfully developed eight fully operational industrial parks, allocating land to 674 companies with a combined capital investment exceeding USD 5.43 billion, creating more than 162,000 jobs. Additionally, over 57,000 acres of land have been mobilized nationwide for industrial and investment development.

The Authority’s achievements have earned global recognition, including three consecutive AIM Awards in Abu Dhabi as the Best Investment Destination in East Africa and Africa (2022–2024), two WAIPA Investment Excellence Awards, and the Go Global Investment Catalyst Award.

With a strategic focus on sectors such as agro-processing, manufacturing, tourism, ICT, oil and gas, and mineral value addition, UIA continues to engage investors from across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East—building partnerships that support job creation, technology transfer, and sustainable economic transformation.
