HÀ NỘI — Investors are expressing strong interest in bauxite mining and processing projects in Đắk Nông, a province in the Central Highlands. The total investment for these projects is expected to reach US$8 billion, according to the provincial People’s Committee.
Under the government’s development plan, the province is set to construct four bauxite mining and processing factories, each with an estimated cost of less than $1 billion.
Đắk Nông is home to significant bauxite resources, with approximately 2,396 square kilometers of bauxite reserves, which account for about one-third of the province’s total area. The government has mapped out a strategy for mineral development through Decision 866, which covers the 2021-2030 period with a long-term vision for 2050. This decision designates more than 1,670 square kilometers of land for bauxite extraction, representing 25% of Đắk Nông’s total natural area.
The province is working closely with central ministries and relevant authorities to address challenges related to overlapping mineral planning, particularly concerning bauxite resources, to ensure smooth progress of the projects.
