At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2025, Huawei introduced seven new solutions designed to make transportation smarter and more efficient. This announcement took place at a special forum called “Accelerate Transportation Digital Intelligence,” where experts, partners, and customers gathered to discuss new developments in smart transportation.
Improvements in Rail Transportation
Huawei unveiled the Smart Railway Yard & Station Solution to upgrade the rail industry. This solution boosts the accuracy of identifying faults to an impressive 99.99% and speeds up the inspection and repair of trains by 30% through better scheduling. It also cuts down the manual workload for initial inspections by half with smart detection tools. The solution includes features for perimeter detection, ensuring no alarms are missed while keeping false alarms low. Additionally, it reduces energy use by 40% and lowers costs and space requirements by 30%.
Advancements in Aviation
For airports, Huawei enhanced its Fully Connected All-Optical Network Solution with the M45 panel-type Optical Network Unit (ONU). This unit supports high-quality voice, data, and video services at airports, benefiting from a feature called Power over Fiber (PoF) and added dual-homing service protection. The new Wi-Fi 7 technology specifically improves services for VIP users, increasing bandwidth by 20%. Huawei also offers improved data security through its proprietary Wi-Fi shield. The Intelligent Operation Center (IOC) at airports uses AI technology tailored for the industry, leading to a 5% increase in on-time departures and more accurate forecasts, as well as better ground support.
Traffic Operations Management
Huawei introduced the Transportation Operations Coordination Center – Advanced (TOCC-A), which quickly detects traffic incidents and improves management speed by 30%. It enhances the scheduling of charging for electric buses, increasing passenger movement efficiency by more than 15%. The TOCC-A is flexible with nine modules and offers 16 types of services that can be combined for better traffic safety, efficiency, and service quality.
Innovations for Sea Ports
For sea ports, Huawei presented the Intelligent Multi-Level Port Operations Management Solution, designed to help ports digitally transform and innovate. This solution dramatically cuts down the time needed to prepare statistical reports from weeks to just minutes, allowing for hourly analysis of key performance indicators instead of the previous monthly assessments.
Global Outreach and Future Goals
So far, Huawei’s solutions have reached over 210 airports, airlines, and air traffic management organizations, more than 300 urban rail lines in over 70 cities, extensive road networks of over 200,000 kilometers, and over 100 clients in the sea and land port industries. Looking to the future, Huawei is dedicated to working with customers and partners to create solutions for hub campuses, transportation networks, and logistics systems. The company aims to make travel easier, boost logistics efficiency, and promote a digitally smart future for transportation.
