On November 14, 2024, The Figaro Coffee Group announced a commitment to source 100% cage-free eggs globally by 2035, earning recognition from the international nonprofit Lever Foundation. This pledge aligns Figaro with other food brands in the Philippines, including Andok’s, Abaca, and Am-Phil, which have also adopted cage-free sourcing goals.
Operating 203 locations worldwide—including Figaro Coffee, Angel’s Pizza, Tien Ma’s, and Koobideh Kebabs—The Figaro Coffee Group aims to implement this policy across all its brands, marking a significant step toward ethical sourcing.
Robyn Charisse del Rosario, Sustainability Program Manager at Lever Foundation, commended the group’s commitment, saying, “The Figaro Coffee Group’s decision underscores the growing importance of ethical sourcing in the food industry, setting a strong example for other companies in the region.”
Cage-free egg production offers improved animal welfare, as hens have space to move freely, and reduces food safety risks compared to traditional caged systems. Research by the European Food Safety Authority found that cage-free farms have a significantly lower contamination rate from salmonella strains, leading to EFSA’s recommendation supporting cage-free egg production.
