Digitalas Ekonomikas Attistibas Centrs (DEAC) and Data Logistics Center (DLC) are joining forces to provide sustainable cloud solutions and services to enterprises in the Baltic region and beyond. Andris Gailitis, the CEO of DEAC and DLC, underscores the genuine commitment of both companies to sustainability. As part of Baltic Rezo, they offer high-performance data centers and a comprehensive suite of cloud computing and IT solutions to businesses in the Baltics and Northern Europe.
In a recent conversation with A. Gailitis, we delved into the companies’ initiatives to reduce their carbon footprints, adopt renewable energy sources, and innovate to minimize energy consumption. We also explored the opportunities for cloud service and solution providers to contribute to sustainability.
Gailitis emphasized that their commitment to sustainability extends beyond financial gain and growth. DEAC and DLC align with EU directives for reducing CO2 emissions, recognizing the intricate connection between business and the environment. Their employees share a collective understanding that eco-conscious decisions bring them closer to a harmonious future where industry and sustainability coexist.
Regarding their carbon reduction efforts, Gailitis expressed enthusiasm about their forthcoming project, the construction of DEAC’s new state-of-the-art data center in Riga, Latvia, complementing the existing facility. Currently, they source all their electricity from wind farms in Northern Europe and use Neste MY diesel made from renewable materials in their generators. However, they are equally committed to optimizing energy efficiency.
Existing data centers in Riga and Vilnius showcase their commitment to energy efficiency. These facilities employ innovative cooling systems and leverage outdoor air for free cooling. Gailitis mentioned the new data center under construction in Riga, where they will introduce a cool wall system, providing more server room space and eliminating the need for recirculating coolers.
The environmental impact of these data centers goes beyond energy savings. By transitioning to cloud technologies, organizations can enhance their capacity to collect, process, and analyze data related to carbon emissions. Cloud solutions enable transformative changes, such as remote work, which significantly reduce fossil fuel consumption, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable future.
This approach benefits all parties involved. DEAC and DLC foster a culture of responsibility and environmental awareness among their employees while responding to the sustainability demands of partners and customers. They are committed to a clear long-term vision for achieving zero carbon emissions and have a comprehensive roadmap outlining strategies, targets, and milestones, building trust with their partners and stakeholders.
