Bangladesh is planning to import 25,000 tonnes of sugar from Pakistan, with shipments expected to arrive at Chittagong Port from Karachi next month. This is an important step as it’s the first major sugar export from Pakistan to Bangladesh in years. In the past, Bangladesh mainly got its sugar from India, but Indian exports are currently limited. Recently, the Pakistan sugar industry signed deals to export around 600,000 tonnes of sugar, with large amounts also going to Central Asia, Thailand, and other international markets.
