Poland is targeting an expansion of its agricultural exports to Vietnam, with a focus on increasing the availability of Polish food products in the Southeast Asian market. This initiative is being supported by the Polish Export Support Department. At a press conference held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 8, Piotr Kondraciuk, Director of the Polish Export Support Department, outlined Poland’s strategy to enhance its export presence in Vietnam. Following successful exports of chicken, pork, apples, and beverages, Polish businesses are now seeking partnerships to introduce Polish beef to the Vietnamese market. The expected launch of Polish beef in Vietnam is anticipated by the end of this year.
Poland exports 85% of its beef production to various international markets, including Japan, and hopes to attract Vietnamese consumers with its high-quality and competitively priced beef. Piotr Harasimowicz, Chief Representative Officer of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized the strong trade relationship between Vietnam and Poland, noting that bilateral trade reached over $2.8 billion last year, marking a 7% increase from 2022. Polish food exports to Vietnam have shown consistent growth, with exports valued at 540 million euros ($590 million) last year, up 16% from the previous year. Notably, exports of pork and poultry products surged by 43% to 143 million euros.
Bozena Wroblewska, President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce Promotion Centre, highlighted the presence of various Polish products in Vietnam and expressed the intention to introduce a wider range of Polish goods through the “Tasteful Europe – Tradition and Quality” programme. This programme aims to enhance the visibility of European food products in Vietnam, emphasizing high international quality standards.
Harasimowicz noted that many Polish food products currently enter the Vietnamese market through intermediary channels, and there is a push to establish direct import routes. The growing Vietnamese consumer interest in high-quality, international products presents an opportunity for Polish food items to gain traction. The “Tasteful Europe – Tradition and Quality” programme for 2024 will focus on fresh, chilled, and frozen beef, pork, and processed apples, with the goal of offering high-quality European products at competitive prices to the Vietnamese market.
