Togo has reached a significant milestone in logistics and international trade by becoming the first Francophone West African country to have its customs brokers’ association join the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA). The achievement strengthens the country’s position as an emerging regional logistics and trade hub.
The membership reflects years of collaboration, international engagement, and capacity-building efforts aimed at aligning Togo’s logistics sector with globally recognized standards. By joining the international federation, the country’s freight forwarding and customs brokerage industry gains greater access to global best practices, professional training, and international trade networks.
The development supports Togo’s broader ambition to enhance supply chain efficiency by combining modern infrastructure with a highly skilled logistics workforce. Strengthening professional standards across customs clearance, freight forwarding, and trade facilitation is expected to improve cross-border cargo movement and increase the country’s attractiveness for regional and international commerce.
As global supply chains continue to evolve, greater alignment with international logistics standards will help improve operational efficiency, strengthen trade connectivity, and reinforce West Africa’s role in global transportation and distribution networks.
