Australia is strengthening its economic partnership with Mindanao, highlighting opportunities across clean energy, agriculture, critical minerals, infrastructure, digital technologies and advanced manufacturing.
During a recent visit to Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental, Australia’s Ambassador to the Philippines Marc Innes-Brown emphasized Mindanao’s growing potential as a destination for investment and regional trade. Discussions at business events focused on expanding commercial connections and supporting long-term economic development.
The partnership also creates opportunities to strengthen supply networks by connecting agricultural producers, infrastructure projects, energy developers and manufacturers with wider domestic and international markets. Greater investment in logistics, energy and production capabilities can help improve the movement of goods and support the growth of export-oriented industries.
Renewable energy was also highlighted, with the Tantangan Solar Power Plant in South Cotabato cited as an example of Australian investment supporting Mindanao’s energy capacity and serving more than 82,000 households.
With Australia and the Philippines marking 80 years of diplomatic relations, deeper cooperation across strategic industries could further connect Mindanao to regional value chains while creating opportunities for trade, investment and sustainable economic growth.
