India’s growing semiconductor industry is highlighting the critical role of logistics in building a resilient and competitive technology supply chain. At SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi, industry stakeholders and government representatives came together to discuss logistics infrastructure, international cooperation, and the development of the country’s semiconductor ecosystem.
A key development was the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the India Semiconductor Mission to establish a framework for logistics cooperation. The initiative aims to encourage information sharing and collaboration on challenges involving semiconductor cargo transportation and logistics infrastructure.
The event attracted more than 600 organisations and approximately 40,000 visitors, reflecting growing interest in India’s ambitions to develop its semiconductor capabilities, from chip design and manufacturing to equipment, materials, and advanced packaging.
Efficient semiconductor logistics requires more than transportation alone. Air and ocean freight, customs clearance, warehousing, factory delivery, and installation support must work together to maintain reliable flows of high-value, sensitive components. Strengthening these connections can help manufacturers coordinate production, manage supply chain risks, and access international markets more effectively.
India is also emerging as an important part of broader Indo-Pacific supply chain development, connecting regional manufacturing opportunities with markets across the Middle East and Africa. Investment in logistics infrastructure and stronger partnerships could support industrial growth while improving supply chain connectivity across these regions.
As semiconductor production networks expand, collaboration between government bodies, manufacturers, and logistics providers will remain essential. Developing integrated logistics capabilities can help India build more reliable and sustainable semiconductor supply chains while strengthening its position in the global technology industry.
