Weerts Logistics Park (WLP), a Belgian-Hungarian venture, has opened a new 40,000-square-meter sustainable production facility in Vecsés, Hungary, for Magna International, a major automotive supplier. The facility, valued at over 57 million euros, was developed by WLP, with Magna contributing to the manufacturing equipment. WLP will maintain ownership of the building and lease it to Magna under a long-term agreement.
Sustainable design features include a rainwater recycling system, energy-efficient technology, and waste heat integration for building heating. Solar panels are also being installed to power the facility with renewable energy. WLP has committed to ongoing environmental monitoring to ensure minimal impact.
To address community concerns, WLP built a natural earth embankment with tree and shrub plantings around the facility to reduce noise and enhance local biodiversity. The site’s location near Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport and major motorways M0, M3, M4, and M5 allows convenient access for employees and supports regional economic growth. Production is expected to begin by late 2025, bringing new jobs to the area.
Over the past six years, Weerts Logistics has developed over 200,000 square meters of facilities in Hungary, creating 905 jobs. The company has expanded to over 1 million square meters of high-tech logistics spaces across several European countries, establishing itself as a key logistics developer in the region.
