Kazakhstan and Laos are exploring new agreements to expand cooperation in transport and logistics, creating opportunities to improve trade connections between Central Asia and Southeast Asia.
The discussions highlighted Kazakhstan’s extensive transport network and its role in connecting major markets between China and Europe. The country is also developing logistics infrastructure and transport corridors that could provide additional routes for Lao freight moving toward Central Asian and European markets.
Laos is likewise strengthening its position as a regional transit hub through improved rail and transport connections with China and Southeast Asia. Closer cooperation with Kazakhstan could support more efficient movement of goods across these regions and open additional pathways for bilateral trade.
The two countries also see potential to expand trade in sectors including agriculture, food products, chemicals, machinery, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals and manufactured goods. Proposed intergovernmental and interagency agreements could provide a framework for developing these transport and logistics opportunities.
The discussions concluded with a joint statement confirming both countries’ interest in expanding bilateral cooperation, including trade, transport, investment, education and tourism.
