In 2024, Turkmenistan’s tomato exports to Kyrgyzstan increased by 23%, according to the National Statistics Committee. From January to October, Kyrgyzstan imported a total of 19,629 tons of tomatoes worth $12.81 million. Out of this, 15,205 tons, valued at $8.9 million, came from Turkmenistan. This shows a significant rise compared to 2023, when Turkmenistan exported 12,355 tons for $7.6 million.
Other countries also played a part in Kyrgyzstan’s tomato imports this year. Uzbekistan cut back on its exports but saw a small increase in their value. On the other hand, China big gains in their tomato exports, with China’s shipments growing by more than 300% and Iran’s exports tripling in volume. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan and Turkey either exported less or had no exports at all.
This trend indicates that Turkmenistan is becoming an important player in the regional tomato market.
