Australia and Vietnam are strengthening their strategic partnership with expanded cooperation focused on trade, agriculture, critical minerals, semiconductors, clean energy, and supply chain connectivity.

The two countries have agreed to deepen collaboration across key sectors that support resilient and diversified international supply chains. Their cooperation also includes maritime and border coordination, supporting smoother movement of goods and stronger regional connectivity.

Bilateral trade reached $8.1 billion in the first half of 2026, representing a 22% increase compared with the same period last year. Vietnam’s exports to Australia include electronics, smartphones, and garments, while Australia supplies Vietnam with coal, minerals, and natural gas.

Critical minerals and semiconductor supply chains are emerging as important areas of cooperation, alongside clean energy. These sectors are increasingly central to manufacturing, technology development, and the global transition toward more sustainable industries.

The partnership also highlights the importance of secure maritime trade routes and regional cooperation. Enhanced coordination between the two countries can support more efficient trade flows and strengthen connections across the wider Indo-Pacific supply network.

With trade continuing to expand, Australia and Vietnam are building stronger economic links that can create new opportunities for businesses while supporting more diversified and connected regional supply chains.
