China is strengthening its logistics network through new transport infrastructure, digital platforms, automation and multimodal connectivity, supporting faster and more efficient cargo movement.
The new Pinglu Canal in Guangxi is expected to shorten inland waterway journeys to the sea by around 560 km and reduce logistics costs by an estimated 18%–30%, improving access for manufacturers and exporters in Southwest China.
Digital technology is also transforming logistics operations. Data-sharing platforms, 5G, sensors and AI are helping improve cargo visibility, reduce vessel waiting times and streamline customs and transportation processes.
China’s logistics demand continues to grow alongside trade, with goods trade reaching 30.13 trillion yuan in the first seven months of 2026, up 17.3% year over year.
The combination of strong infrastructure and smarter digital logistics is helping create a more connected and efficient supply-chain network while supporting continued trade and manufacturing growth.
