Vietnam’s seafood export industry is poised to continue its growth, with expectations of a 10–15% increase in 2025. Last year, the sector surpassed the 10 billion USD mark, registering a 12% year-on-year growth and reinforcing the country’s position as the third-largest seafood exporter globally, behind China and Norway.
Despite the optimistic outlook, the seafood industry is anticipated to face several challenges in the coming year. Key issues include addressing the European Union’s ongoing concerns regarding illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing practices, as well as tackling the effects of climate change, environmental pollution, and various market access barriers.
Experts remain confident in the industry’s potential for growth, citing financial support packages available to the seafood and forestry sectors since 2023. These packages are expected to help businesses in planning their production and export strategies for 2025.
Additionally, improvements in the availability of raw materials and the continued expansion of markets are projected to support the seafood export sector in meeting its export target of 11 billion USD for the year.
Europe, the United States, and Japan remain Vietnam’s top three seafood export markets. with entrepreneurs to help them avoid risks and make informed decisions in international trade.
