Vietnam’s fisheries export revenue reached over $885 million in July 2024, marking a 14% increase compared to the same month last year. This figure represents the highest monthly revenue recorded since the beginning of the year. For the period from January to July 2024, the total export value amounted to $5.28 billion, reflecting a 7% rise compared to the same period in 2023.
Among the various seafood exports, shipments of shrimp increased by 7% to nearly $2 billion, tra fish rose by 7.7% to approximately $1.09 billion, and tuna exports surged by 21% to $555 million. In July, exports to major markets saw recovery, with increases of 30% to China, 14% to the US, 14% to the EU, and 11% to Japan. Over the first seven months of 2024, exports to the US and China grew by 10% to exceed $930 million. Exports to the EU rose by 10% to over $600 million, while exports to the Republic of Korea inched up by 1% to $426 million.
Looking ahead, the US and EU are expected to remain promising markets for frozen products in the latter half of the year due to positive economic trends, easing inflation, and lower interest rates. However, significant advances in the export of fresh products to China are not anticipated, as demand remains high for catering services and tourism.
