On Thursday, Transfix, a digital freight marketplace, revealed its partnership with transportation provider Rocket Shipping to introduce a new less-than-truckload (LTL) booking feature for customers.
Jonathan Salama, co-founder and CEO of Transfix, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating that Rocket Shipping’s extensive expertise in LTL and final-mile services would be integrated into Transfix’s Shipper App. Salama highlighted the potential benefits for small and midsize businesses, as well as midmarket shippers, citing the improvement in efficiency and effectiveness within freight operations.
Salama also addressed common challenges faced by small and midsize shippers, such as manual booking processes leading to inefficiencies and errors, as well as difficulties in securing competitive rates due to lower shipping volumes. Additionally, complex claims and damages resolution processes were identified as factors impacting customer satisfaction and increasing shipping costs.
Looking forward, Salama expressed optimism about the partnership with Rocket Shipping, anticipating solutions to alleviate these pain points and stimulate innovation and growth in the industry. Specifically, he emphasized the potential to enhance access to advanced shipping tools for smaller businesses and drive sustainability through load consolidation and reducing empty miles.
Gabe Pankonin, CEO of Rocket Shipping, echoed Salama’s sentiments, envisioning partnerships like this as the future of the integrated marketplace approach. Pankonin emphasized the specialization of companies in their respective areas, such as full-truckload logistics for Transfix and LTL for Rocket Shipping, while collaborating to provide customers with a comprehensive logistics solution through a single platform for managing shipments.
Pankonin emphasized the democratization of access to specialized companies within the logistics sector through Transfix’s Shipper app, highlighting the potential for shippers to benefit from expertise and competitive pricing without relying solely on big-box brokerages for managing all modes in one platform.
