Yoon actively promoted South Korea as an attractive location for Tesla to consider establishing a gigafactory. He highlighted the country’s advanced industrial robotics and highly skilled workforce as key factors that make it an ideal destination for Tesla’s manufacturing endeavors. Yoon further extended support to the electric vehicle manufacturer, proposing incentives such as tax benefits to encourage the establishment of Tesla’s manufacturing plant in South Korea.

According to reports, Musk expressed a positive view of South Korea as a leading candidate for a Tesla Gigafactory and conveyed his expectation of visiting the Asian country. However, both Tesla and Musk have not provided an official response to media inquiries at the time of this report.

This meeting follows Yoon’s commitment in November to provide tailored incentives and address potential challenges posed by labor unions to attract Tesla’s investment in South Korea. In March of this year, Musk announced Tesla’s plans to build a new factory in Mexico, marking the company’s first plant outside the United States, Germany, and China. Additionally, Canada and Indonesia have also been mentioned as potential candidates for future Tesla factories.
