The Sustainability Initiative of South Africa (SIZA) has partnered with Appellando to enhance grievance reporting systems and promote accountability in global supply chains. This collaboration aims to align with EU Due Diligence legislation while strengthening human rights and environmental protections. The partnership integrates SIZA’s Voice for All program and South African expertise with Appellando’s international framework.
Kristian Moeller, Director General of Appellando, stated, “SIZA has established an effective sector-wide grievance mechanism. Through this partnership, we extend our framework beyond Spain to include fresh fruit suppliers from South Africa, ensuring compliance with legally required supply chain due diligence reporting for our European retail partners. Our goal is to provide a harmonized and effective grievance mechanism aligned with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP) and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct.”
Retha Louw, CEO of SIZA, emphasized, “This partnership is the result of careful planning to ensure SIZA continues delivering world-class services to global markets. It reflects the professionalism and trust that Kristian and his team at Appellando have demonstrated. While the SIZA Voice for All program is well established, this collaboration strengthens its global presence and helps maintain market access for South African agricultural suppliers. Together, we are committed to advancing transparency, accountability, and best practices that go beyond compliance.”
