On January 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several significant railway infrastructure projects across India. The event will be conducted virtually, starting at 12:30 PM through video conferencing, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Among the key projects, PM Modi will inaugurate the Jammu Railway Division and the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana. Additionally, he will lay the foundation for the Rayagada Railway Division Building under East Coast Railway.
Jammu Railway Division
The newly established Jammu Railway Division will cover a total of 742.1 kilometers, incorporating major routes including Pathankot–Jammu–Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal–Pathankot, Batala–Pathankot, and Pathankot–Joginder Nagar. This project is expected to address long-standing demands for improved rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, supporting regional infrastructure, job creation, tourism, and socio-economic development.
Charlapalli New Terminal Station
The Charlapalli New Terminal Station, located in Telangana’s Medchal-Malkajgiri district, has been developed as a modern facility with an investment of approximately Rs 413 crore. The terminal, designed with eco-friendly features and enhanced passenger amenities, is expected to reduce congestion at other major terminals, including Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda.
Rayagada Railway Division Building
The foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building, part of the East Coast Railway network, will also be laid. This project is aimed at improving rail connectivity across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and neighboring regions, contributing to regional infrastructure growth and socio-economic development.
