THACO AUTO, a subsidiary of Vietnamese automaker THACO, has successfully exported a shipment of Kia New Carnival car bodies and parts to Kia India. This shipment marks the initial phase of a contract valued at approximately $50 million between the two companies.
In June, THACO AUTO produced components and bodies for the Kia New Carnival and sent them to India for testing. The products met all required standards for technology and quality and received positive feedback from Kia India.
The car bodies and parts were manufactured at the THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park in Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam. Since 2012, THACO KIA has been designated by South Korea’s Kia Corporation to provide training, supervision, technical support, and consulting services for Kia-branded businesses in various countries, including Ecuador, Pakistan, Myanmar, India, and Uzbekistan.
The shipment was exported from Chu Lai Port, with support from Regional Container Lines (RCL), a Thai-based container shipping company. RCL’s new maritime routes connecting with Chennai, Kolkata, and Kattupalli ports in India have facilitated this export process.
THACO AUTO has also expanded its international presence in recent years, reaching markets such as the Philippines, Thailand, Myanmar, Kazakhstan, and India. The company continues to invest in enhancing its production capabilities, technology transfer, and digital governance to boost its production capacity.
