Malaysian cargo airline MASkargo, the cargo division of Malaysia Airlines, has partnered with Unisys to implement its logistics optimization technology. This investment aims to enhance operational efficiency, improve capacity utilization, and boost service delivery. Unisys’ technology is designed to transform complex data into actionable insights by using advanced computing methods and AI models. The goal is to optimize load utilization, routing, and inventory management for air cargo, ground handling, and freight forwarding.
MASkargo plans to utilize this technology to streamline planning and loading processes, addressing issues such as underutilized space on flights and missed revenue opportunities. Additionally, the technology is expected to help reduce costs related to ground handling labor, minimize claims and damages, and improve fuel efficiency, ultimately reducing the carbon footprint. Jason Thomas, MASkargo’s CEO, stated that the investment in Unisys’ technology will strengthen MASkargo’s position as a leader in the industry. He highlighted the technology’s ability to provide near-real-time replanning capabilities, which will help the company manage disruptions and optimize asset usage.
Chris Arrasmith, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Computing Solutions at Unisys, noted that the solution is well-suited to address MASkargo’s air cargo challenges by facilitating faster decision-making and capacity optimization. He emphasized that Unisys’ extensive experience in air cargo processes contributes to the solution’s effectiveness. In a related development, MASkargo recently announced it will list its capacity on CargoAi’s online booking portal and offer payment options through CargoAi’s CargoWALLET payment solution.
