IIT Madras has introduced the world’s first online MBA program specializing in digital maritime and supply chain management.
This innovative 24-month program, developed in collaboration with the Departments of Management Studies and Ocean Engineering and industry partner i-maritime Consultancy, aims to equip global professionals with advanced skills tailored for navigating the digital transformation of maritime trade and supply chain management.
Combining online learning with on-campus immersion modules, the program offers a unique blend of flexibility and comprehensive education. Participants, primarily working professionals worldwide, are required to complete 192 credits over two years through 20 core courses and 12 elective courses, which include practical projects focused on digital transformation.
The curriculum integrates cutting-edge technologies like AI, Blockchain, IoT, and Machine Learning, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to tackle contemporary challenges in the maritime industry.
Admission requirements include a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% and at least two years of full-time work experience. Prospective students undergo an online IIT Madras Admission Test followed by personal interviews.
The program fee of Rs 9 Lakh can be paid in instalments, with up to 50% scholarships available along with bank financing options. The inaugural batch is scheduled to commence in September 2024.
Participants will engage in 900 hours of classroom sessions, project work, and six on-campus immersion modules lasting four to seven days each. This structure caters to professionals’ schedules while providing ample networking opportunities and access to IIT Madras’ esteemed faculty and resources.
Upon completion, graduates will receive prestigious IIT Madras Alumni status and lifelong access to the Digital Maritime Library. The program emphasizes career mobility and global job prospects, supported by IIT Madras’ Incubation and Start-up Platform for entrepreneurial ventures.
Focusing on the application of digital technologies in maritime and supply chain contexts, the curriculum enhances graduates’ marketability and leadership potential in today’s dynamic business landscape. Real-world business challenges are addressed through a Maritime case method led by a faculty comprising industry experts and academics, leveraging AI, blockchain, and machine learning for practical solutions.
