The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is pleased to announce its support for Romania’s leading retail chain, Profi Rom Food SRL, in strengthening its supply chain finance programme through a €10 million grant in local currency. In collaboration with Banca Transilvania, this funding aims to enhance access to affordable working capital for Profi’s network of suppliers, ultimately contributing to economic stability and growth in the region.
This initiative is designed to foster improvement within the supply chain ecosystem across Romania, benefiting approximately 1,800 local suppliers and promoting sustainable practices that align with the EBRD’s broader objectives for the area. Moreover, suppliers that implement green transition plans will have the opportunity to access EU incentives for innovation. This project represents a noteworthy step toward enhancing Romania’s retail sector and supporting the local economy.
Profi is dedicated to nurturing relationships with its suppliers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), to enhance the domestic value chain and promote financial resilience. This initiative is in harmony with the EBRD’s overarching strategy to support SME development and strengthen local supply chain sustainability in Romania.
