Azerbaijan is preparing to export eggs to Poland, Belgium, and Israel, with shipments expected to begin soon. Murvat Hasanli, chairperson of the Azerbaijan Poultry Meat and Egg Producers and Exporters Association, confirmed in an interview that discussions with these countries are progressing.
Azerbaijan currently produces more eggs than the domestic market requires, with daily demand averaging around 4 million eggs. The country’s daily production has reached nearly 6 million eggs, allowing for significant exports. So far, Azerbaijan has shipped 25 containers of eggs to the United States, with the first 10 containers sent before the Novruz holiday.
Ongoing talks with Poland and Belgium are expected to lead to exports to those countries in the near future. Additionally, Azerbaijan is working on the necessary documentation to start exporting eggs to Israel.
The export of breeding eggs has also been a focus. Since the start of 2025, Azerbaijan has exported nearly 9 million breeding eggs and expects this number to increase over the coming months.
Hasanli also highlighted Azerbaijan’s status as an avian flu-free zone, which has played a significant role in opening European and global markets for the country. Exports of poultry meat are planned to begin in May, and further increases in exports are anticipated.
On domestic prices, Hasanli noted that wholesale prices for table eggs range from 11 to 12 kopecks, while the price for one kilogram of chicken meat is between 3.80 and 4.20 manat ($2.2–$2.4). Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a regional leader in affordable eggs and chicken meat, with plans to rank among the top three globally for the lowest-cost table eggs.
According to the State Statistics Committee, Azerbaijan produced 91,200 tons of meat, 322,700 tons of milk, 374.5 million eggs, and 47,700 tons of vegetables in the first two months of 2025. Compared to the same period in 2024, vegetable production increased by 16.2%, meat by 2.4%, and eggs by 1.8%, while milk production saw a slight decrease of 0.5%.
