Andriani, an Italian company specializing in gluten-free pasta production, announced plans on Monday to invest over $33 million in a new manufacturing facility in London, Ontario. This initiative is expected to generate approximately 42 new high-paying jobs in the region. The investment will be channeled into constructing a 61,225-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility dedicated to producing gluten-allergen and GMO-free pasta. Once operational, this new plant will enable Andriani to manufacture products directly for the North American market in Ontario, shifting from its current model of importing from Italy.
The Ontario government is supporting Andriani’s venture by contributing $1.5 million through the Regional Development Program’s Southwestern Ontario Development Fund. Premier Doug Ford commented on the investment, noting its potential to stimulate growth in the province’s agri-food supply chains and to bolster London’s status as a center for food production, technology, and innovation. Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation, and Trade, highlighted the attractiveness of Ontario’s economy for multinational manufacturers, citing the province’s recent record of attracting over $11 billion in new investments and creating over 120,000 jobs in the previous year.
“Our government’s focused strategy in drawing multinational manufacturers to expand and generate good-paying jobs across the province is proving effective. We are grateful to Andriani for selecting Ontario,” said Fedeli. Kapil Lakhotia from the London Economic Development Corporation also welcomed Andriani’s significant investment, emphasizing its contribution to London’s prominence in food processing. He noted that the creation of over 40 high-paying jobs is a testament to the success of targeted investment strategies and aligns with the vision for a sustainable and innovative future in the region.
