Singapore, 10 July 2024 – DHL Express has launched a suite of digital tools aimed at assisting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in expanding their global footprint and enhancing their international trade and shipping capabilities. These tools are designed to help resource-constrained SMEs navigate the complexities of cross-border logistics, enabling smoother import and export operations across various markets.
According to insights from the DHL Global Connectedness Report, there is a growing interest among businesses, particularly in ASEAN and Greater China, to explore international markets. However, SMEs often encounter obstacles such as intricate customs procedures, unfamiliarity with export regulations, and limited internal resources.
Yung C. Ooi, Senior Vice President for Commercial – Asia Pacific at DHL Express, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting SMEs: “SMEs are integral to the economies of Asia Pacific, constituting over 97% of all businesses. We understand the challenges they face in global trade and are dedicated to equipping them with the necessary tools and resources to thrive in the global marketplace. Through our comprehensive suite of digital solutions, SMEs can streamline their cross-border operations, reduce costs, and enhance their competitiveness.”
Key components of DHL Express’s digital toolkit include My Global Trade Services (myGTS), a free online pre-shipment planner that assists businesses in identifying appropriate Harmonized System (HS) codes and understanding relevant free trade agreements. This enables SMEs to effectively manage costs and optimize pricing strategies when preparing for international shipments.
The platform also allows businesses to easily set up a DHL account, even without a credit history, facilitating seamless access to DHL’s global shipping services. DHL Express Commerce integrates with popular e-commerce platforms to automate shipment processes, ensuring efficient order fulfillment for sellers.
To provide enhanced visibility and customer control, DHL’s Track & Trace feature enables real-time tracking of shipments across its network, while On Demand Delivery empowers recipients to customize their delivery preferences, improving overall delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Moreover, DHL Pass offers customers a unified login experience across DHL’s online platforms, ensuring a secure and seamless digital interaction.
In addition to digital solutions, DHL Express supports SMEs through initiatives like the GoTrade program, aimed at reducing trade barriers and facilitating international commerce. Collaborative efforts with public sector partners and organizational alliances further enhance SMEs’ understanding of international trade regulations through workshops and webinars.
