Berard has successfully transported a large cold box from a fabrication facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to the Port of Houston for export. The cold box, weighing nearly one million pounds (453 tons), required extensive planning and specialized equipment to comply with the Louisiana Department of Transportation’s (DOTD) regulations for road transport. To facilitate the move, Berard’s engineering team developed a comprehensive transportation plan and employed 32 axle lines of Scheuerle Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs) to lift, transport, and load the cold box onto a deck barge.
The barge reached the second loading station in New Iberia, Louisiana, within 24 hours, where the cold box was transferred onto the barge using the Scheuerle SPMTs. The barge then navigated the inland waterways to arrive at the Port of Houston, where the cargo was successfully offloaded for export.
