Pakistan has negotiated a reduction in the customs valuation of its rice exports to Kenya, lowering it from $615 to $460 per metric ton. The adjustment is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Pakistani rice in the Kenyan market and support bilateral trade between the two countries.
The reduction follows discussions between Pakistani rice exporters and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), facilitated by the Trade Mission at the Pakistan High Commission in Nairobi. The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) acknowledged the mission’s role in addressing concerns raised by exporters regarding the previous valuation.
Pakistani officials have stated that the lower valuation will improve export opportunities and reinforce Pakistan’s position as a rice supplier in the global market. The government has also emphasized ongoing efforts to address trade barriers and expand access to international markets. The development is part of broader initiatives aimed at strengthening economic ties and promoting Pakistani products in key global markets. Officials noted that continued engagement with trade partners remains a priority to support exporters and facilitate smoother trade relations.
